The ‘33rd Seoul Music Awards’will be held overseas for the first time in its 33-year history.

  The ‘Seoul Music Awards’, a music awards ceremony organized and hosted by Sports Seoul, announced, “The 33rd Seoul Music Awards will be held at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on January 2, 2024.”

  Rajamangala National Stadium is the largest concert hall in Thailand with a capacity of approximately 50,000 people, and hosts world-class pop stars such as Lady Gaga, One Direction, and Coldplay, as well as leading K-pop stars such as BTS, Blackpink, and GOT7. It is the mecca of Thai performances. In addition to performances, it is also a venue for major sporting events such as the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games and the 2002 AFC Champions League.

  As the Seoul Music Awards, which has 33 years of tradition and history, is being held overseas for the first time, there is interest in who will be the grand prize winner.

  Unlike other awards ceremonies, only one team receives the grand prize at the Seoul Music Awards.   On October 31, the Golden Disc Awards office announced, "The 38th Golden Disc Awards with Mandiri will be held at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Indonesia on January 6, 2024."

  Jakarta International Stadium can accommodate about 80,000 people. It is also the site of the U-17 World Cup, which will be held from November 10th. Naming sponsor Mandiri is Indonesia's largest commercial bank.

  The Golden Disc Awards Secretariat said, "K-pop's influence in the global market is gradually expanding, and requests from Asian fans who want to meet K-pop artists are continuing. In keeping with this trend, we are providing a platform where a wider range of domestic and foreign music fans can communicate through K-pop. “We decided to hold the event in Jakarta to create a space,” he explained.

  Meanwhile, this is the fifth time the ‘Golden Disk Awards’ has been held overseas. Following the 26th Japan, 27th Malaysia, 29th China, and 37th Thailand, we are waiting to meet Asian fans.

  Golden Disk, which selects popular music that has been greatly loved by music fans throughout the year and settles the accounts, began in 1986. Starting from the 21st, awards will be given in the music and album categories, reflecting the trend of music consumption patterns expanding from albums to digital sound sources.
